We’ve experienced tremendous growth at ActionVFX over the past year. Along with launching AVFX+ and redesigning our website, we introduced 3D assets and animated VDBs and launched the world’s largest library of practice footage for compositors. We also began collaborating with third-party artists in our marketplace, adding thoroughly-vetted contributor products to our library. Because of our third party partnerships, we’ve already released more products this year than we ever have in a full year–and it’s only August.

Growth often reveals both strengths and weaknesses, and it’s driven us to improve how we serve you.

We haven’t always done a great job at communicating changes or looking for opportunities to really listen to our users. However, over the past year, we’ve worked hard to become better listeners. In fact, our CEO, Rodolphe, has spent a considerable amount of time over the past year meeting directly with ActionVFX users to determine what they really would like to see out of an ActionVFX offering.

We’re thrilled to announce that your feedback is shaping significant change at ActionVFX. And here’s how.

On September 1st, we shifted to a subscription-based business model to give you flexible and scalable access to our entire library. This new model adapts to your project needs and budget, ensuring you always have the right tools on hand whether you’re a freelancer or a multi-million dollar studio.

Why is ActionVFX Changing?

We learned a few key things from your feedback:

• The AVFX+ subscription limited your options, especially when it came to accessing contributor products.
• You missed the old credit-based system that allowed you to save up credits during slower months and use them when your workload increased.
• You wanted a more cost-effective alternative to buying a-la-carte, but without restrictions on which assets you could access.

Our new credit plans, which launched on September 1st, are built with your needs in mind. They're scalable, offer more value, and benefit both our users and our partner contributors.

How ActionVFX Credit Plans Work

Our new credit-based offering is designed to give you affordable and easy access to our asset library, including third party contributor assets.

With our credit system—think of it as ActionVFX currency—you can access any collection across both our 2D and 3D asset libraries. As a subscriber, you'll unlock exclusive perks like the Essentials Catalog—a curated selection of premium assets available at no extra cost.

Any unused credits roll over each month for up to a year, allowing you to build a balance for when bigger projects come your way.

Think of your ActionVFX credits like your VFX savings account. You set it and forget it, then dip into your “savings” when your project load picks up.

Our new subscription model is built to be flexible, so whether you’re a hobbyist, indie filmmaker, or running a multi-million dollar studio, there’s a plan tailored just for you.

Free Forever Plan

Get started with our Free Forever Plan and unlock a curated selection of top-tier assets—completely free. Enjoy up to 10 downloads per day from our Free VFX and Practice Footage libraries. That gives you access to over 650 free, hollywood-standard VFX assets and over 500 2K professionally-shot practice clips for compositors. Plus, you’ll join our Discord community to connect with fellow creators, exchange ideas, and find support.

This plan is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to sharpen their compositing skills without making a financial commitment.

Individual

Our Individual Plan is designed for solo artists and independent creators who need premium VFX assets on a project-by-project basis. This plan offers affordable access that scales with your workload—without breaking the bank.

With this plan, you can use your credits on any asset in our library and download 4K Pro Practice Footage files.

To help you get the most out of your subscription, all paid plans include access to the Essentials Catalog—a library of 1,500 assets you can download without using any credits.

Choose from flexible monthly plans starting at $59 per month for 5 credits.

With annual plans, you’ll get all your credits upfront, with options for 60, 120, or 240 credits, depending on your tier.

With assets typically priced between 1-4 credits and a 12-month credit rollover, you should always have credits in your account when you need them. If you ever need more, you can purchase additional credit packs, starting at $75 for 5 credits.

Startup

If you’re like 9 out of 10 VFX artists, according to a recent study we performed, a lack of access to high-quality VFX stock assets would put you at a significant disadvantage to your competition. But for small teams, paying for an expensive year-round subscription isn’t always feasible.

Our Startup Plan is built for teams and small studios with annual revenues under $3 million, providing a robust solution for growing teams.

Like our other paid plans, this option gives you full access to the ActionVFX library, allowing you to scale your subscription based on your team’s project demands. With this plan, you can also download Pro Practice Footage and Essentials Catalog assets without using credits.

The Startup Plan supports up to five users, making it ideal for small teams.

Choose from flexible monthly plans with 5, 10, or 20 credits, starting at $199.

Annual plans provide 60 or more credits per year and you get the added benefit of receiving all of your credits upfront.

If you need more credits, additional Credit Packs start at $249 for 5 credits.

Enterprise

There’s a reason the world’s largest VFX studios love our assets. According to one of our recent surveys, 8 out of 10 VFX Producers agree that not integrating ActionVFX elements into their workflow would lead to slower turnarounds and lower client satisfaction.

Our Enterprise Plan is built for large companies with annual revenues over $3 million. It offers full access to the entire ActionVFX library and supports multiple users.

Our new model offers studios unique benefits that previous subscription models didn’t provide.

• Rollover credits and credit packs let studios scale their subscription to match fluctuating project demands.
• The credit-based system puts creative control in the hands of artists and VFX supervisors, cutting out lengthy purchase approval processes.
• Studios can access our entire VFX library without being limited to pre-selected asset packages.

The Enterprise Plan supports unlimited users, making it ideal for large teams. It also includes custom licenses and a dedicated account manager.

What is the Essentials Catalog?

Before AVFX+, our subscription model only allowed purchases with credits. This meant that even for smaller projects, you had to dip into your credit “savings.” Unfortunately, AVFX+ didn’t do enough to solve that problem. The Essentials Catalog does. It offers over 1,500 production-quality assets you can download without using any credits. Even if you cancel your subscription, everything you’ve downloaded remains yours to keep and use—your assets are permanent.

The Essentials Catalog is available to subscribers on the Individual, Startup, and Enterprise plans. This curated collection includes some of our bestselling assets like Bullet Hits, Muzzle Flashes Vol. 1, and Falling Burning Debris.

Identifying Essentials Catalog Products

Here’s how to spot Essentials Catalog products:

• Look for the “Essentials” label (or a branded "E") on product thumbnails and pages.
• Check the product page sidebar for a mention that it’s included in the Essentials Catalog.

Is the ActionVFX Subscription Worth It?

Why is the new ActionVFX subscription a big deal? It scales with your changing project needs, giving you access to the world's best VFX stock assets as you need them.

Use your credits however you like—no lock-ins, no limits. When work picks up, grab a Credit Pack. When things slow down, scale back and let your credits accumulate for the next burst. You’ll always have access to what you need, when you need it.

What are ActionVFX Credit Packs?

Credit Packs give you extra flexibility, letting you add more credits to your subscription whenever you need them.

Buy Credit Packs anytime to scale up when your projects demand it. Just like your subscription credits, these roll over for 12 months, giving you flexibility to download the assets you need when you need them.

Here’s a quick look at the Credit Packs available.

• Credit Packs for individuals start at $75 for 5 additional credits
• Credit Packs for Startups start at $249 for 5 credits.

What About Current ActionVFX Subscribers?

If you are currently subscribed to an AVFX+ or Legacy subscription, you will have the option to continue with your current subscription until its renewal date, or upgrade to a new credit plan.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

• If you are on a Legacy plan, you should use any saved credits before your plan’s expiration date. Since those credits can’t be used to access contributor products (hence limiting your access to our library), the old credit system will be discontinued.
• If you are an AVFX+ user, upgrading to the new subscription will mean you are no longer limited to the assets included in your plan. You will be able to use your credits to access our entire library.

AVFX+ and our old Legacy subscription models have a lot of problems. We and our users loved the Legacy subscription, but it ultimately wasn't sustainable for our business and didn't allow us to fairly compensate our third party asset contributors. AVFX+ wasn't a hit with users since it didn't provide the value you wanted. But we’re excited that our new subscription model will be a much higher-value offering with an improved user experience!
