It's been a long time since we've updated our Fire Collections. In fact, the Fire Category is the only category that hadn't been updated since ActionVFX launched in June 2016. Crazy, right? Well, all that is about to change this year, starting with today's new releases!

While large Fire VFX elements are great (and we have plenty of those), we realized that big isn't always what's right for every shot. Sometimes your shot only needs small-scale fires, and scaling down an obviously large Fire element won't yield realistic results. Enter these 2 new collections!

The "Small Ground Fires" and "Small Burning Debris" Collections both focuses on small-scale Fire Stock Footage that you might need when compositing. In this post, I'll go over why these new elements are a must for your library.

The Small Ground Fires Collection contains 40 real fire elements burning on a flat horizontal surface. The variety of this Collection is one of my favorite aspects of it. Not only do the shapes and sizes of the elements vary, but the angles also vary.

19 of these were shot at a front camera angle, while the other 21 were shot at a high angle. As usual with our products, most of these elements stay completely in frame, and are properly exposed, which is invaluable for compositing at a high level.

These are delivered in 2K, 4K, and 5K resolutions! The 2K and 4K versions are delivered pre-keyed in 12-bit ProRes 4444, and the 5K version is, of course, the original raw .R3D file that was shot on the RED Weapon Helium 8K camera.

Ever see those small patches of fiery debris in the aftermath of a large explosion or fire? It was that exact image that led us to create this Collection. Spread these around your shot and watch as your set goes from a pleasantly safe area, to a desolate war zone.

This Collection contains 34 clips of small burning debris. These elements vary in camera angle, size, spread, and turbulence. Another great feature of these elements is the natural glow each fire casts on the ground. These "floor reflections" will make it 10 times easier to realistically comp these since each fire will believably interact with your shot.

These were shot at 96fps on the RED Weapon Helium 8K camera, so you can slow these down significantly when needed. These are delivered in 2K, 4K, and 5K resolutions! The 2K and 4K versions are delivered pre-keyed in 12-bit ProRes 4444, and the 5K version is the original raw .R3D file that we shot.

These 2 collections are just the first of multiple Fire Collections we'll be releasing this year, so it's safe to say that very soon our Fire Category is going to be one of the hottest on the site!
